EXTREME chocolate flavor! Aug 24, 2010 I recently was diagnosed with Celiac, and tried these brownies. I LOVE THEM! They have a bit of a gritty texture as compared to regular brownies, and they are SUPER chocolatey. It is the most intense chocolate flavor I've ever had in a brownie. But I like that kind of thing, so I love 'em! Plus, they don't have a ton of fat and they have fewer calories than non-GF brownies, and because they are so chocolatey, they satisfy me quicker than what I remember with non-GF brownies. The ingredients are all organic too, which is nice.
Highly recommended. :)
Pricey, but yummy Aug 18, 2010 While this mix is pretty pricey to end up with a small pan of brownies, they do have a great taste! I love that they have alternative recipes on the package. We have egg allergies, so I use the egg-free recipe. I have to cook it for significantly longer than the recipe states, (10+ mins.), and still the brownies are pretty gooey and don't hold together. OK to eat at home, but not good enough to take anywhere. Again, they taste great, especially for a chocolate and sweets deprived pregnant woman :)
Delicious in all ways! Jul 13, 2010 Pamela's brownie mix does everything I want it to do. Pamela"s prcoducts now replace all my previous baking products and even my grandchildren love them. Great consistency and value.
There's only one problem..... Jul 01, 2010 And that is the weight I will gain from eating too many of these scrumptious brownies! I used the fudgiest brownie recipe with just oil and water, followed the directions to bake them for 18 minutes and got moist, chocolatey delicious brownies. This is my first Pamela's product...next I'm going to try the corn bread!
Very good brownies, slight carob-like flavor Jun 16, 2010 Bottom line, this mix makes very good brownies.
The back of the package provides several different versions.
I tried the Fudge version first. My finicky husband liked them but I didn't, surprisingly. For me it was too thin and didn't taste quite right; I think the flavor is influenced by molasses, but it does end up tasted a little like carob, as another reviewer mentioned. Then I tried the Butter version, which pleased everyone in my family. Somehow using butter gave a richer taste, still a little like carob but not so much, and the velvety texture IMO made up for it (and texture for me is almost as important as taste, evident in my negative review of Namaste Fudge Frosting).
The directions are simple, complete, and easy to follow. You might think this would be a given, and I did too before trying "Namaste Fudge Frosting"; I'll never take complete directions for granted again.
UPDATE JUNE 21, 2010: Since trying this brownie mix I have tried Betty Crocker's Gluten Free Brownie Mix, and everyone in my family agreed that mix is a little better than this one. Betty Crocker's mix is a little sweeter but there is no hint of molasses/carob -- it just tastes like a normal chocolate brownie.
